For the Broken Hearted

There isn’t a song, nor a poem to say,

Nor comforting words to chase grief away.

Not a hug from a friend, or a lover’s sweet kiss,

Can heal the deep ache, or offer true bliss.

No amount of money, no family’s embrace,

Can mend the heart’s cracks, or fill up the space.

For the man with a heart that is shattered inside,

Nothing can fix it, no matter how wide.

They are handsome or ugly, so beautiful, or not,

Rich or poor, young or old, still they are caught.

Strong in their body, or weak in their mind,

None can escape the ache they can’t hide.

For the man with a broken heart knows this truth,

That some wounds stay with us, from youth into youth.

It matters not who, or what you may be,

A broken heart is a pain none can see.
