UHCL Honors Veterans Through Annual Celebration and UHCL Heroes Campaign

The Veteran and Military Resource Center (VMRC) hosted its annual Veterans Day Celebration on November 11, 2025, bringing together more than 140 students, faculty, staff, and community members. The event honored the service and sacrifice of veterans while fostering a sense of unity and appreciation across the University of Houston–Clear Lake campus.

This year’s ceremony featured a special performance by the Seabrook Intermediate Choir, whose heartfelt songs filled the Bayou Theater with warmth and reverence. Their voices brought a calm and reflective atmosphere that resonated with attendees. The program also introduced the university’s inaugural UHCL Heroes campaign, celebrating veterans who embody the values of voluntarism, community engagement, and leadership.

Veterans Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. According to the Pew Research Center (2023), only 6% of U.S. adults are veterans, a statistic that underscores the rarity and significance of such service. These individuals chose to dedicate years of their lives to protect and uphold the ideals of the nation, a powerful reflection of patriotism and devotion.

At UHCL, the VMRC stands as a place of connection and support for military-connected students. The center recognizes the unique challenges veterans face as they transition from military to academic life and strives to ensure that each student feels valued, supported, and seen. Through shared experiences and a spirit of resilience, the veteran community at UHCL continues to strengthen its presence on campus.

The VMRC’s message is clear: our veterans are an essential part of the UHCL family. Their courage, leadership, and perseverance serve as examples to all Hawks. As the university reflects on this year’s celebration, one sentiment stands above all, we are united in service, and we are united as Hawks.
