The third national “No Kings Day” protest took place Saturday, March 28, 2026 and is estimated to have been the largest yet, with approximately nine million people who participated.
These protests come as a result of politically engaged citizens believing that this current presidential administration and how they’re going about implementing their policies, as well as those policies themselves, are more reflective of a monarchy than a democratically elected leader of the United States of America.
The official statement on the No Kings website outlines these policy issues:
“Masked secret police terrorizing our communities. An illegal, catastrophic war putting us in danger and driving up our costs. Attacks on our freedom of speech, our civil rights, our freedom to vote. Costs pushing families to the brink. Trump wants to rule over us as a tyrant. But this is America, and power belongs to the people – not to wannabe kings or their billionaire cronies.”

The Voices of the People
Anthony Conden is a UH Main Campus student who attended the protest to show their disdain with what the administration is doing.
“He’s launching us into wars. He’s abducting leaders of other countries, and he ran on this idea of restoring the economic status of America,” Conden said.
“In the meantime, if you look at grocery prices or rent, nothing is going down.”
Cam Waterson, another protester, said that because of the targeting of immigrant rights in Texas and our city’s proximity to the border, a surprising amount of ICE detainees are actually from Houston.
“It’s that 16-year-old who had their phone stolen and clothes ripped,” Waterson said. “Those people are from Houston,” Waterson added, “History doesn’t repeat, it rhymes.”
An elderly protester said protesting is important because “it’s our right as Americans, and we need to demonstrate it.”
“Showing the number of people that are against something is important,” another elderly protestor explained.
