Preparing for UHCL’s Spring 2025 Graduation
Dear upcoming graduates,
Congratulations on reaching your last semester of college! As you prepare for graduation, staying organized and tackling a few key tasks is essential to ensure everything goes smoothly. Think of this as your friendly heads-up: The final semester is equal parts excitement and responsibility, and staying organized now will save you stress later.
Most schools require students to formally apply for graduation early in their last semester. Don’t miss this critical step! You’ll also want to double-check your degree plan to confirm you’ve met all academic requirements, from course credits to GPA minimums. Contact your advisor if you have any doubts; they’re there to help.
The Spring 2025 graduation application will be available from January 13 to February 12. Late graduation applications will be available online from February 13 to March 14. Please remember that there is a non-refundable application processing fee and if filing after February 12. a late fee will be assessed.
Next, clear up any financial holds or outstanding balances on your student account. These can prevent you from receiving your diploma or even participating in the ceremony.
Please also take a moment to order your cap and gown as some suppliers have early deadlines to ensure timely delivery. You must order your cap and gown online through UHCL’s vendor, Herff Jones, as soon as you apply for graduation. The Gowns for Grads program lend donated caps and gowns to any student who needs them.
Finally, don’t forget the little things: updating your resume, attending career fairs, and contacting faculty for potential recommendations. The next few months will fly by, so start checking items off your to-do list now.
Graduation may feel far away, but preparation is key to making it the memorable and stress-free milestone it should be. Stay focused, stay on top of those deadlines, and make this semester your best!
