Writing Center
The Writing Center at UHCL offers writing advice to all UHCL community members, whether students, faculty, alumni or staff, with writing projects either personal or professional. Located in the Student Services and Classroom Building on the second floor, room 2.101, you can schedule a meeting with an advisor either in person or online via appointment. The Writing Center also takes walk-ins. The center provides support at any stage of the writing process, welcoming writers of all skill levels. More than just a tutoring space, it operates as a hub for research and innovation in writing instruction, embracing inclusive and evolving consulting principles. Rooted in best practices from rhetoric and composition studies, the center plays a key role in fostering strong, effective writing across the university community. Student Success Center
The Student Success Center offers tutoring to students, ranging from 1-on-1 tutoring to group study sessions. Located on the SSCBs’ third floor, room 3102. Counseling and Mental Health Center
The Counseling and Mental Health Center provides free and fully confidential therapy and counseling to any actively enrolled UHCL student. Students can schedule appointments either in person or via zoom meeting. Whether you’re new to campus and nervous or worried about your future as you approach graduation, the Counseling and Mental Health Center is here to help you with whatever challenges you are facing. They are located on the SSCBs’ third floor in room 3103

As Hawks get closer to their expected graduation dates, it’s important to know what exactly your degree can do for you. Career services offer advice on how to effectively utilize the skills you’ve acquired through your UHCL journey and translate them into a meaningful and successful career. If you’re looking for career guidance, you can schedule an appointment with a counselor by calling the office. You are also able to walk in during drop-in hours at the Student Services and Classroom Building’s third floor 3109.. Assistance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
