On Feb. 15 the Houston Rockets and Children’s Memorial Hermann held their much-anticipated annual running event, the “Rockets Run”, which took place during the NBA’s action-packed All-Star weekend.
This year, over 4,000 participants signed up over three total events: a 5K fun run, a 2-mile walk, and 1-mile run for kids. The event, which brings together Rockets fans, families, and staff, has grown into one of the most prominent celebrations of unity and sportsmanship in the city.
“We are so proud to be part of this amazing community,” said Rafael Stone, General Manager of the Houston Rockets, at a small Q&A after the event. “The Rockets Run is more than just a physical event–it’s an opportunity for us to connect with our fans and give back to the city that’s supported us through thick and thin.”
In addition to the physical and mental challenge, the event also highlighted several other programs supported by the team. Donations and proceeds from this year’s event will benefit local youth basketball leagues, schools, and other community centers across the city.
Participants and fans were also treated to a post-race after party right across the street from the Toyota Center that featured complimentary foods, raffles, games, and giveaways.
“We’re family here,” said Rockets Head Coach Ume Udoka at the Q&A. “Events like the Rockets Run help remind us of how lucky we are to play in front of such passionate, supportive fans. We’re excited about the future, both for our team and the city.”

Fans across the city are already looking forward to next year’s event, hoping for another solid turnout to bring the community together in supporting and cheering on their favorite team.
