Houston Latino Film Festival showcases Latine films in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month

The Houston Latino Film Festival held a screening of Latin short films under the title of VISTAS on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The showcase was presented at the Star Cinema Grill in City Centre.

An Instagram post from the Houston Latino Film Festival stated that VISTAS spotlighted filmmakers whose work captured and celebrated the Latine experience.

“The theme highlights the rich diversity of Houston’s Hispanic community represented by the films from the following countries: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, and the U.S.,” said a post from the official Houston Latino Film Festival Instagram account.

Attendees of the festival watched short films like “¿SACASTE EL POLLO?” which focuses on the film’s main character waking up from a nap after a phone call from her mother reminding her to take the chicken out from the freezer to thaw in preparation for cooking.

The VISTAS Short Film Showcase also honored Hispanic Heritage Month with a chef-crafted Latin-flavored dinner for the audience to enjoy during the films.
