Hawk Leader Institute offers opportunity for growth by hosting fall retreat

The Hawk Leader Institute (HLI) hosted a members-only fall retreat on Oct. 3, 2025, that focused on core leadership fundamentals and community building.

“Throughout the year we have weekly sessions, but we wanted to dedicate time for the students who are participating in this retreat to dive deeper and really explore what leadership means to them,” said Director of Center for Student Engagement, Dr. Jordan Jones.

“Our main focus this year is impact,” Jones said. “How you are impacting not only the people you directly interact with, but your entire community as well, and really working to understand how even one person can make a difference.”

For students who are interested HLI, they, along with the Center for Career Development, will be hosting a leadership conference open to all UHCL students this coming spring semester.

“For any student interested in leadership opportunities or really just understanding where to get started, it is a really great experience to be a part of,” Jones said.

The leadership conference will take place on January 31, 2025.
