The Catrina Couture Glamour y Tradicion Fashion Show brought an evening of culture and couture to Paraiso Maravilla on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.
Hosted by Latinas-N-Heels, the event blended elegant runway fashion with the symbolism of Dia de los Muertos, celebrating heritage through design, makeup, and performance.
Models walked through the stone corridors of the venue wearing jeweled gowns, embroidered textiles, dramatic veils, and traditional Catrina makeup. The candlelit atmosphere and historic architecture created a dramatic runway backdrop that highlighted each look. Designers incorporated cultural motifs such as flower embroidery, skull detailing, and bold colors representing life, celebration, and remembrance.
Guests filled the venue in festive attire, many wearing floral crowns, skull face paint, or black formal wear in honor of the evening’s theme.
“It wasn’t just a fashion show, it felt like art in motion,” said attendee Ana Lopez. “Every model looked powerful, and the designs honored our culture beautifully.”
The night concluded with a standing ovation and models on stage with designers and Latinas-N-Heels host, followed by dancing, food, and vendors. The celebration highlighted Houston’s Latin creative community and the tradition of honoring ancestors through fashion and artistry.
