WEBSTER— Imagine walking into a beautiful coffee shop, surrounded by the aroma of freshly baked pastries and the warmth of a welcoming atmosphere. This is what Isabel Flores has created- a haven that not only serves delicious coffee and handmade pastries but also embodies the spirit of community and hospitality. Originally from Honduras, Isabel moved to the United States three years ago with her husband and two children, bringing with her a rich heritage and a passion for baking.
Roots in Coffee & Family
Flores’ story begins in a small town in Honduras, where she spent much of her childhood on her family’s coffee farms. Those early days, surrounded by nature and coffee cultivation, instilled in her a deep appreciation for the industry and a love for the simple joys of life. Her close-knit family was at the heart of everything she did, teaching her the importance of community and the value of hospitality.

“I grew up always looking into nature and coffee farms. My mom’s from a part of the country where they have our major coffee farms, so that’s how I got involved in this type of business,” said Flores.
A Grandmother’s Legacy
Flores’ grandmother played a significant role in shaping her passion for food and service. She vividly remembers her grandmother running a small eatery from their home, serving generous
portions of food to the community with love and generosity. Watching her grandmother cook with such warmth left a lasting impact on Isabel, inspiring her to bring that same spirit of service and love to her own business.
“She was very passionate about the kitchen, was a really strong woman, and I think everything revolves around the fact that she had her kitchen, and she loved cooking and she loved serving people in it,” said Flores while describing why her grandmother inspired her so much.
From Science to Baking
Despite having a background in microbiology, Flores’ heart was always in baking and serving people. In 2016, she took a leap of faith and opened a combined restaurant, coffee shop, and bakery in Honduras. Even after moving to the U.S., she continues to manage it remotely, a testament to her dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to her food businesses, she also owns an Airbnb complex, further showcasing her versatility and passion for hospitality.
“I really love microbiology, and I do miss it, but with everything I have now—my kids and running a business—I don’t think I could go back to it. But I’m enjoying what I’m doing.”

Challenges in a New Land
“Everything in our lives revolves around Honduras, so we didn’t have a background here. That made it really challenging to find the right people who could open doors for us. Coming from another country, that was challenging.”
Starting a business in a new country was not without its challenges. Isabel faced the daunting task of finding the right location and building a customer base from scratch. Without prior
connections or business history in the U.S., every step required perseverance and hard work. Yet, she remained determined, driven by her vision of creating a warm and welcoming space for her community.
Balancing Life and Business
Running a business while raising two young children is a juggling act that Isabel navigates with grace. Unlike in Honduras, where she had the support of her family, in the U.S., she had to rely on her own strength and resilience. She acknowledges the importance of finding balance, though it remains a continuous challenge. Her family is her rock, and she is grateful for their love and support.
A Personal Touch

“I want to be known for the warmth of what I offer. I’ve noticed that people often just need a place to come in, have a small chat, and take a break from their busy lives. Sometimes, they start a conversation with something random, and from there, everything just flows. I truly enjoy serving and being around people.”
What sets Flores’ coffee shop apart is the personal touch she brings to every aspect of her business. Her coffee is sourced from her family’s region in Honduras, adding a cultural and personal element to her offerings. She wants every customer to feel at home, whether they are students seeking a quiet study spot or friends gathering for conversation. Her goal is to create a space where people can connect and feel a sense of community.
Words of Wisdom
Flores’ advice to aspiring women entrepreneurs is heartfelt and genuine. She encourages them to have a clear vision, be prepared for sacrifices, and seek support from those around them. She emphasizes that entrepreneurship is rewarding but requires hard work, determination, and resilience. Her journey is a testament to these principles.
“You need to be clear about what you want in life and how you’re going to get there. It takes courage and strength to pursue your goals because while it’s not impossible, it does require a lot of sacrifice.”

Looking to the Future
With her strong educational background and fulfilling career, Isabel feels content with growing her current businesses while cherishing time with her loved ones. Unlike many entrepreneurs who dream of expansion through new locations, Flores’ priority is balancing business growth with family life. She aims to scale her existing ventures strategically, allowing her to focus on her children and being present in their lives.
Isabel Flores’ story is a reminder of the power of passion, family, and community. Through her coffee shop and bakery, she shares not only delicious food but also the warmth of Honduran hospitality—a testament to her journey and values. Her legacy is one of love, service, and the unwavering commitment to making every customer feel at home.
